Accountability issue in Uzbekistan

Another case of accountability issue – 15 people were food poisoned after consuming chicken sandwiches in one of the fast food providers in Uzbekistan.

Unfortunately, as in many other fields, CSR principles still not very common in food and drink industries in Uzbekistan. Strong initiatives should be developed in order to legitimize the activity of the business, much to be done to increase the acceptance of social responsibility principles and there is a need to establish the regulations or rules for ethical practices in the country.

If number of urgent measures are not taken, situation can be worse. There is a strong need in raising awareness of consumers and customers as well as setting a set of laws and national standards (based on international ones) to regulate CSR within the country.
